DPS Student Bill of Rights

We have added a "Financial Literacy" clause to the Denver Public Schools Student Bill of Rights that is in motion to pass during the 2023-2024 school year. The clause reads:

All students have the right to an educational experience that prepares them to thrive in post-secondary education or a career of their choice, including comprehensive financial literacy education.

STUDENTS HAVE THE RIGHT TO:

  • Receive comprehensive education on financial literacy, including budgeting, saving, investing, and managing debt, to develop the necessary skills for financial success in post-secondary education and beyond.

  • Access resources and guidance on scholarships, grants, financial aid, and other financial opportunities to support their post-secondary education goals.

  • Receive ongoing support and resources to navigate financial challenges during their transition to post-secondary education or the workforce.

  • Ensure that financial literacy education is inclusive, accessible, and tailored to the diverse needs and backgrounds of all students, promoting financial empowerment and well-being for every student.

DPS Ends Policies

We are in the process of implementing a Financial Literacy Education Policy to the Denver Public Schools Ends Policies. We will be lobbying at the DPS Public Comment meetings and meeting with school board members in the next coming months. Our initiative strives to bring equity and success to the public school system by  preparing graduates to live a fiscally responsible future.
